I am happy to announce the appointment of Dr. Kathy Jakielski as SSTC Course Coordinator for our collaboration with the University of Puthisastra. Kathy works closely with SSTC staff, with UP, with UP course funder the Rotary Club of Phnom Penh, and with all of the five hospitals participating in the new university course. She will coordinate the activities of the 15 doctors, nurses, and physical therapists who are the course trainees, and will manage the six speech-pathologist clinical trainers and their interpreters. It is a big job!
Kathy has been to Cambodia almost yearly over the last decade, notably also in 2022 as a Fulbright scholar, and is now living permanently in Cambodia. She was a professor of speech pathology for more than 25 years and was head of her Communicative Sciences and Disorders Department at Augustana University in the US for 18 years.
Kathy loves organizing and creating systems, and is a joyful person to work with. We are so thrilled to have her!
